Established on October 9, 1797, Cocke County was named for William Cocke, one of Tennessee’s first United States Senators. Surrounded by the beauty of the majestic Great Smoky Mountains, Cocke County is truly the Heart of The Smokies.
Chris Norton has been an active TAPT Member for many years. Chris is a veteran of pupil transportation service with more than twenty-six years’ experience throughout all areas of student transportation. Chris began his career as a school bus driver following his father who was a school bus driver for twenty-nine years. He began temporary work in the bus garage while continuing his education at Tennessee Technology Center-Knoxville and after two years he graduated with a certificate as a Diesel Technician/Auto Mechanic/School Bus Technician. Chris was later promoted to School Bus Garage Service Manager and then to Assistant Transportation Supervisor. Chris then quickly advanced to his present position as Cocke County Pupil Transportation Supervisor.
